Dr. Howard Taylor

ABFT, ABCC, Laboratory Director

Dr. Taylor is a nationally renowned toxicologist with over 30 year’s experience. He is board certified by both the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT) and the American Board of Clinical Chemistry with a specialty in Toxicology (ABCC-Toxicology). He did a post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology. He also serves as a SAMSHA Federal Laboratory Inspector under the National Laboratory Certification Program.

Dr. Mark Calarco

MBA, DO, MRO, CPE, CEO/Medical Director

Dr. Calarco has served as AAC’s Medical Director since 2013, and has 27 years’ experience in both clinical and laboratory medicine. Dr. Calarco was responsible for the development of Addiction Labs from its inception. He is board certified in Family Medicine, Regenerative Medicine, and has advanced certification in Addiction Medicine. Dr. Calarco is also a certified Medical Review Officer, COLA Laboratory Director, and Certified Physician Executive. A pioneer in treating hormone imbalances in recovering individuals, Dr. Calarco serves on the Tennessee State Medical Laboratory Board and as a clinical professor for several medical schools.

Dr. Mary Mayo

PhD, BCLD, DABCC, FAACC, MT (ASCAP), Medical Director

Dr. Mayo wields over 25 years of clinical laboratory experience, she is a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry, Board Certified as a BioAnalyst Clinical Laboratory Director by the American Board of BioAnlysis and is certified as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Dr. Mayo has served as faculty to Saint Louis University, Austin Peay State University, Clinical Lab Director for PathGroup and earned her BA in chemistry from Hope College with an MS and PhD in Biological Chemistry from the University of Michigan.

Joe Olechowski

Genetics Research & Development Supervisor

Joe began his career in the Division of Genetic Medicine at Vanderbilt University where he developed mutation screening assays used for DNA fragment analysis. From 2004 to 2014, Joe worked for Applied Biosystems (later named Life Technologies) as a field-based engineer. His responsibilities included installing and repairing high tech instrumentation used in DNA Sequencing and Real-Time PCR applications, as well as training laboratory technicians on instrument usage and data analysis software. Prior to joining Addiction Labs, Joe worked for a company that developed and managed toxicology and genetic testing laboratories. Due to his experience with the instrumentation, he was an integral part of implementing, validating, training staff and managing the pharmacogenetic departments of three commercial reference laboratories during 2014-2015.

Jennie Colson

BS, MT (ASCP), Laboratory Manager

Jennie joined the Addiction Labs’ team in the spring of 2017. She began her healthcare career in hospital services and has over 30 years of laboratory medicine experience. Working in hospitals as large as 500+ beds to those as small as 25 beds, over the course of her 30 year tenure, Jennie has also served as an instructor of an accredited MLT program, manager of inventory management planning with Inobis, and project manager of human drug trials with Covance.

In 2005, Jennie joined the laboratory services team at PathGroup Labs where she grew and polished her leadership skills from the ground up, beginning at the bench level and ultimately serving in the Clinical Laboratory Operations Director role. While at PathGroup, Jennie oversaw all facets of the clinical diagnostic testing department (Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology, Hematology, Microbiology, and Urinalysis). Her responsibilities grew to also encompass the management of the Accessioning and LIS departments. Jennie is credentialed by the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the State of Tennessee Department of Health.

Bob Kobrick

Director, Laboratory Information Systems

Bob joined the Addiction Labs team in June 2017. He has over 30 years’ experience in the clinical, toxicology, hospital and environmental laboratory space, in both areas of healthcare provider and applications vendor. He has held leadership positions at National Health Laboratories, LabCorp, Community Health Systems, and Ardent Health Services. His roles have been focused in the areas of laboratory and clinical applications development, application implementation and management, application integration, and healthcare IT consulting. He has provided consistent and innovative leadership throughout his career, developing and implementing technology solutions for numerous healthcare companies spanning a wide spectrum of disciplines. He attended Richland College in Dallas, TX with a focus on Business/ Management Information Systems.

Brandy Hughes

Quality Compliance Manager

Brandy joined Addiction Labs in Summer of 2016. She began her career in electrical power generation followed by a transition into environmental engineering specializing in air quality issues from in the manufacturing industry. She then transitioned from Environmental Project Engineer into an Environmental Laboratory Quality Manager, followed by a move into Clinical Laboratory Quality Compliance Management. She has experience with federal regulatory bodies and outside accrediting agencies, conducting audits, policy and procedure development and implementation and possesses strong project implementation and problem-solving abilities. Brandy has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (B. Ch.E.) from Auburn University.
